About Ryan Daye

I'm thrilled to be running for a seat on the Edina City Council in the 2024 election. As a University of Minnesota grad, I have spent most of my adult life in Minnesota. While living in this wonderful state I have met many incredible people including, most importantly, my wife Klara. In 2021, we chose to make Edina our home and we plan to raise a family here. For that reason, I thought it important to have a voice in shaping both the present and future of this amazing community. I look forward to connecting with Edina residents, listening to your passions and experiences, and representing your interests, issues, and views on the city council.

Interests

  • Avid Runner: Completed all of the World Marathon Majors (Chicago, Boston, New York, London, Berlin, Tokyo). Finished each race in under 3 hours (less than 500 people worldwide have done so).

  • House Projects/DIY: In 2021 my wife and I bought a quintessential Edina mid-century rambler that we continue to restore in our spare time.

  • Community Building: Volunteered for many different activities in the last several years. One that I am most proud of: Activities Coordinator for the Salvation Army after-school program in Midland, MI (I worked in Michigan for a couple years post-college).

  • Spending Time Outdoors: On any given weekend you will find me spending most of my time outside working on my yard, landscaping, etc. My wife and I also love camping trips to the Boundary Waters and the many national parks across the United States.

  • Travel: Within the U.S., my wife and I are trying to visit as many national parks as we can. We also travel internationally fairly often. Experiencing different cultures and perspectives is extremely rewarding.
